Sudbury is one of the most demanding fabric-building markets in Canada. The Sudbury Basin hosts one of the world's largest nickel-copper mining districts; surface conditions are harsh, snow loads are among the highest in Ontario, and operational schedules don't tolerate slow contractors. Building Depot has been delivering MegaDome fabric structures into the Sudbury Basin for years and we've built our process around the way Sudbury operators actually work.

Mining and mining-services applications dominate. Haul-truck shelters, drill and loader storage, ore covers, process buildings, exploration camps and contractor yards are all routine MegaDome applications. The AR-series abrasion-resistant fabric and hot-dip galvanized steel frame are engineered for abrasive ore environments and high-cycle equipment access. Clear-span widths up to 300' let a single building cover the largest haul trucks at full wingspan with no interior columns.

Sudbury's OBC ground snow load sits at roughly 2.8 kPa — among the highest values in the province. Every Building Depot fabric building installed in the Sudbury Basin is stamped by an Ontario engineer to that load plus the rain-on-snow surcharge, with MegaDome XP or XXP series frames specified for the steep roof pitch and ridge profile that encourages natural snow shed. Hot-dip galvanized truss steel is rated to -55 °C — no brittle failure in Sudbury winters.

The Sudbury install window is short. Foundations need to be poured before freeze-up; frame erection can continue into winter but membrane tensioning is fastest in shoulder seasons. We schedule Sudbury projects backwards from your operational deadline and the freeze-up date, sequencing foundation work into August–October so the building is enclosed before December. Helical anchors are available for fast deployment on remote sites where concrete access is limited.
