A public works building is sized around the function it performs — not a standard width off a price list. These are the inputs we use before any dimension is quoted:
- →Which functions the building needs to serve — salt, sand, fleet shop, wash bay or general storage
- →Fleet mix and the largest vehicle or piece of equipment that has to fit through the door
- →Tonnage, if the building covers salt or sand
- →Number of bays, lifts or pits needed in a fleet maintenance building
- →Yard traffic pattern — how trucks and loaders queue, turn and stage
- →Utilities required — lighting, ventilation, floor drains, wash-bay plumbing

The slab is matched to the job, not a template.
A push-wall slab, a structural shop floor with pits, and a wash-bay slab with floor drains all have different loading, drainage and reinforcement requirements. We design the foundation for the function the building performs, then pour it and build on it with our own crews so steel goes up on cured concrete without a scheduling gap.
