Is Building Depot an authorized MegaDome dealer?

Yes. Building Depot is Ontario's Authorized MegaDome Dealer and sells the full MegaDome series (HP, HHP, XP, XL, DB and AR) with Ontario-stamped engineering and manufacturer warranty.

What warranty does Building Depot offer?

MegaDome fabric membranes carry a 15-year prorated warranty, and hot-dip galvanized steel frames are engineered for a 50+ year service life. Foundations and installation carry a 1-year workmanship warranty.

What size of clear-span dome does a full sports facility need?

It depends on the mix of activities. A single-sport building — one indoor field or a bank of courts — can work in a 100–150 ft clear span. A facility combining a field, courts and shared circulation space usually needs 150–200 ft to keep run-out and sightlines workable. Send us the activity list and we will lay out a footprint.

Can one building really host soccer, courts and community events?

Yes, with planning. Clear span removes the columns that would otherwise force a single-use layout, and movable nets, partition curtains and floor markings let the same slab serve different programs through the week. The mechanical and lighting design has to account for every use from day one, not be retrofitted later.

How is daylight handled in a large multi-activity building?

The membrane itself is translucent, so daytime hours get diffuse natural light across the whole floor without hot spots or shadows. Evening and shoulder-season play still needs a designed LED layout — daylight reduces how much artificial light is needed, it does not replace it.

Do these buildings need heating and ventilation?

Most Ontario sports facilities run some combination of make-up air, radiant or forced-air heat, and roof-mounted destratification fans, sized to the activity and the occupancy load. Building Depot's engineering team integrates the mechanical package into the shop drawings rather than leaving it as a separate afterthought.

What foundation does a large-format sports building sit on?

A perimeter footing or stem wall carrying a concrete slab, sized to the frame and the loads the site carries — spectator areas, mechanical rooms and any mezzanine add their own requirements. Building Depot designs and pours the foundation and erects the building under one contract.

Can an existing arena or bubble be replaced with a fabric building?

Yes. We assess the existing footprint and foundation, tell you what can be reused, and quote a new engineered structure or a re-cover where the frame is still sound.

What do you need from us to scope a sports facility?

Site address, the list of activities you want under one roof, expected peak occupancy, whether spectator or changeroom space is required, and your target opening date. That is enough for a preliminary layout and budget.

SIZING THE BUILDING

Start with the program, not the sport.

A single-sport building is sized around one activity. A multi-sport facility is sized around a schedule — which means we need the full list of what happens inside it before any dimension gets quoted:

→The full list of activities the building has to host, not just the primary one
→Peak simultaneous occupancy for the busiest booked hour
→Whether spectator seating, a mezzanine or changerooms are required
→Ceiling height needed by the tallest activity on the schedule
→Circulation space between courts, fields and shared areas
→Storage for nets, mats, flooring sections and event equipment
