The Truss Frame
MegaDome frames are open-web steel trusses, not hollow tubes. The truss geometry is more rigid pound-for-pound than tube frames, which is why MegaDome supports clear-span widths up to 200 feet. Every frame member is hot-dip galvanized after fabrication — the entire truss is dipped in molten zinc — for a 50+ year service life in the corrosive environments of salt, fertilizer, manure and acidic waste.
The Membrane
MegaDome membranes are 28–32 oz PVC-coated polyester, manufactured to ISO 9001 standards and warranted 15 years pro-rated. The membrane is mechanically tensioned in a keder-track system that allows site re-tensioning over the building's life without removing panels. Lesser brands use straps or clips that loosen and tear; MegaDome's keder is the gold standard.
Ontario Engineering Stamp
Every MegaDome building Building Depot delivers carries a site-specific stamp from an Ontario Professional Engineer covering snow, wind and seismic load to the OBC and CSA A660. This is what separates a permanent code-compliant building from a tent — and it is non-negotiable for permitted use in Ontario.
