Foundation choice drives 20–35% of your MegaDome project cost and largely determines lifespan, code classification and re-locatability. Here is how Building Depot scopes the right foundation for each application.
Poured Concrete Pad-and-Pier
The gold standard for permanent industrial, manufacturing and aviation use. Spread footings carry frame loads directly to bearing soil. Highest cost, longest life, fully OBC compliant for any occupancy classification.
Concrete Pony Walls
Required for salt, aggregate, grain and waste applications where bulk material is retained against the perimeter. 4'–16' tall reinforced concrete walls with the frame springing from a top plate. Pours in-house by Building Depot.
Precast L-Block
Fast deployment for agricultural, equipment cover and contractor yard buildings. Pre-cast 2,000–4,000 lb concrete blocks set on compacted gravel. 50–70% faster than poured concrete. Re-locatable — pull the building, move the blocks, re-set.
Helical Pile
Best for remote sites with poor soil, frost concerns or environmental sensitivity. Steel piles screwed to bearing depth. Minimal site disturbance. Used commonly for mining, aviation and northern projects.
